Carpathian wooden churches road

On both sides of the Carpathian Mountains of the Slovak - Polish border region, more than 100 wooden churches are located. Of special value and worldwide rarity are the 27 wooden churches dating back to the 17th and 18th century in northeast Slovakia. Below the Dukla, in a relative small area you find 11 wooden churches, where the Greek Catholic Church celebrates services in the Byzantine rite. These churches (Cerkvy) are the characteristically and authentically architecture of the Rusinians - a people living in the Carpathian Mountains. The churches were built without any nails, harmonizing perfectly with the surrounding environment and the beautiful nature.
